Emily Harvey, Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula

Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula

Emily Harvey (she/her)

Birth is more than a medical event. It is a threshold.

I'm Emily, the founder of The Wild Doula. I offer attentive, individualized support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — care designed around the specific family in front of me, not a template.

Birth is a profound rite of passage that transforms a woman at every level, regardless of how that journey unfolds. My work centers on helping women feel informed, supported, and connected to themselves throughout the transition into motherhood.

Families come to me looking for a calm presence, honest guidance, and a steady environment where they can ask questions, explore their options, and move through birth with confidence in their choices. When a woman feels respected, supported, and sovereign in her birth space, she is more able to meet birth with trust instead of fear.

Training & Credentials

Trained, certified, and continually learning.

Doula work isn't licensed at the state level, which makes credentials matter more, not less. Here is the foundation my practice is built on.

  • DONA-trained Birth Doula

  • CAPPA Postpartum Doula

  • CLC Lactation Counselor

My approach

Five principles I bring to every family I serve.

I.

Birth is a rite of passage.

Birth is more than a medical event — it is a profound rite of passage that transforms a woman at every level, regardless of how that journey unfolds. I honor that threshold.

II.

Informed, supported, connected.

My work is helping women feel informed about their options, supported through their decisions, and connected to themselves through the transition into motherhood. Information without connection is incomplete.

III.

Calm presence, honest guidance.

Families come to me for steadiness. I offer a calm, attentive presence and the kind of honesty that helps you trust your own choices — never pressure, never agenda.

IV.

Sovereignty in your birth space.

When a woman feels respected, supported, and sovereign in her birth space, she is more able to meet birth with trust instead of fear. My job is to help protect that sovereignty — in conversations, in the room, in the choices that follow.

V.

Care that is individualized.

No two families need the same thing. My care is built around the people in front of me — what they value, what they fear, what they want to remember a decade from now.

Where I serve

Based in South Jersey. At home across the region.

Wherever you are birthing, I travel to meet you where the work is.

I'm based in Magnolia, NJ, and serve families across Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey. Wherever you are birthing — a city hospital, a suburban one, or your own home — I travel to meet you where the work is.

I support births at hospitals throughout the region including Pennsylvania Hospital, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson, Einstein, Lankenau, Bryn Mawr, and Virtua Voorhees. I also work with families planning home births alongside their midwife.

If you are not sure whether your address is in range, send me your zip and I will let you know straightaway.
